Ruislip Cricket Club Saturday 2s v Amersham 4 on Sat 11 May 2024 at 1pm
Ruislip Cricket Club Won by 1 wicket (last ball)
Match report
The newly promoted 2nd Xi were playing in their first game at Division 7 level since 2018. On an incredibly warm May day at King's College Road, Alan won the toss and chose to field - a decision that surprised some of the Amersham side who were expecting the opposite due to the overhead conditions. Alan's decision was vindicated just three balls in. Abdullah taking the new ball from the pavilion end bowling what can only be described as a seed to the opening bat, clattering into middle stump to leave Amersham 0-1 just three balls in! A second followed with the last ball of the over, Amersham's number three with a horror show of a leave, with the ball nipping back slightly and smashing into the top of off stump. 0-2
Amersham's skipper entered at 4 and built a solid partnership to steady their innings. Chris the Amersham skipper making 101 himself in the process. Amersham finished on 203-8 after their 45 overs.
RCC went out to bat and it didn't start particularly well. At one point being 18-3 after some good opening bowling by Amersham. Bilal held his end superbly and was joined by Jono who batted impecabbly until a run out due to cramp, which left him being carried off on a table - much to the bars amusement. Bilal soon cramped up himself and retired not out - hurt. Only to enter again on the last ball with 1 run to win. Crashing the ball to the boundary and winning the game - finishing 62 not out
